Man City 2-2 Tottenham
In what was a thrilling encounter between two of the top teams in England, VAR was the main talking point after the game. Jesus and Man City were denied a late winner after VAR correctly gave a handball against Laporte in stoppage time after the ball brushed his arm before Jesus calmly slotted the ball past Lloris. VAR is far from perfect but there needs to be more clarity in the stadiums. Fans and players alike were confused with the decision as there is not yet a system in place to inform fans what is being reviewed. Man City can count themselves unlucky not to walk away with all three points but Pep could not fault the performance. Man City dominated the game from the beginning and pinned their title rivals in their own half. Spurs had two shots on target and scored from both of these attempts. Kevin De-Bruyne ran the show and looks to be in sparkling form for the new season.
Arsenal 2-1 Burnley
Arsenal have got maximum points from their opening two games and things are starting to look good at the Emirates. Aubameyang and Lacazette were constant threats throughout the game and gave the Burnley defense a tough time. The star of the show was Dani Ceballos. The Spaniard, who is on loan from Real Madrid pulled the strings in midfield and also pressed the Burnley midfield into mistakes. Arsenal’s winning goal came from a Ceballos tackle high up the pitch. Burnley struggled to put passes together and rarely threatened the Arsenal goal. They briefly drew level through a deflected Dwight Mcneil cross that Barnes took superbly but Arsenal were deserved winners in the end. We also got a glimpse of Pepe who showed some silky footwork and neat touches which delighted the home faithful.

Aston Villa 1-2 Bournemouth
Bournemouth showed Aston Villa what it takes to stay in the Premier League. Ruthless finishing from Bournemouth and some Premier League experience helped them secure all three points. Tom Heaton made an unusual error in the first minute that gifted Bournemouth the lead from the penalty spot. Bournemouth then capitalised when Villa tried to play out from the back and gave the ball straight to Harry Wilson, who took aim from 25 yards out and found the back of the net. This fixture probably came too early for Villa as they are still gelling their summer signings and the combination play broke at times. Villa fans can still remain positive even after two defeats in a row. Dean Smith and his coaching staff just need a little bit more time to bed in their tactics and cut out the costly errors.
Brighton 1-1 West Ham
Brighton are perhaps the surprise package of the season so far. Four points from a possible six is a great return for Graham Potter. Many fans were unsure what was in store from their team this season but will be mighty impressed from their start. Brighton created a host of clear cut chances and were unlucky that they had a goal disallowed by VAR from their new signing Leandro Trossard. West Ham took the lead against the run of play in the second half from the mercurial Javier Hernadez. Brighton did not give up hope though and equalized with a fine strike from Trossard and will feel disappointed that they could not take one of many clear cut opportunities to take all three points.

Everton 1-0 Watford
Everton were desperate to sign a center-back throughout the entire transfer window. So far though, Everton are the only team not to concede a goal and have looked solid in defense. A Bernard strike early in the first half was enough to finish off Watford off but Everton have to thank Jordan Pickford for the clean sheet. Pickford made some great stops from Deeney and co to secure the points for the Merseyside club. Watford’s finishing was poor but their fans should not be worried about the upcoming season as there were promising signs.

Norwich 3-1 Newcastle
This fixture has been labeled as one of the first relegation battles of the season as many fans believe both of these clubs will be playing their football in the Championship next season. Newcastle were run ragged by a Norwich team that looked like they could score every time they went forward. Pukki scored goals for fun last year and looks to continue that form with a hat-trick against the Magpies. Steve Bruce has a mountain to climb with a side that looks disjointed and clueless. Already after two games, Newcastle are favourites for the drop and it is hard to disagree with the bookies after an embarrassing performance. Norwich can be pleased with their afternoon work and will face much tougher tests in the future. The clouds are already looming over Newcastle and this could be a season of more heartbreak for their fans.

Southampton 1-2 Liverpool
Considered an easy win for Liverpool, this was anything but. Southampton made Liverpool work extremely hard for their three points and should have equalized late on when Danny Ings missed a sitter. Liverpool looked tired and relieved when the final whistle blew as they knew it could have been very different. Sadio Mane and Firmino gave Liverpool a two-goal lead before Adrian committed a howler of a mistake to gift Southampton a way back into the game. Klopp joked about the mistake after the game but will be hoping Allison comes back as soon as possible.

Sheffield United 1-0 Crystal Palace
Sheffield United grabbed their first win since their return to the Premier League over a poor Crystal Palace team that relies far too much on Zaha. Much has been made of the overlapping center-backs of United and this bizarre philosophy brought around the only goal of the game. However, defenders are primarily there to defend and they denied Zaha space and time which starved Palace of any attacking threat. The Sheffield club will be glad to have put three points on the board, Palace, on the other hand, will be worried by another poor start in the league.

Chelsea 1-1 Leicester City
The homecoming of a legend. Lampard received a warm welcome from the home faithful and would have thoroughly enjoyed the first 25 minutes against Leicester as he saw his side press and create some wonderful opportunities. Mason Mount struck on his home debut with six minutes on the clock and could have had another soon after. However, Chelsea didn’t make the most of their opportunities and let Leicester back into the game. Leicester drew level after the break and would have felt disappointed not to take all three points back to the King Power as they carved Chelsea open on multiple occasions. Lampard eluded to tiredness after their European Super Cup adventure midweek but will be concerned that for the second game in a row they have not taken their chances and faded in the latter stages of games.

Wolves 1-1 Man United
Wolves have been tipped to break into the top six this season after their exploits last season. United, however, started the game quickly and pinned Wolves back in their own half and took the lead from a fine strike from Martial. Wolves made a change at half time and brought on Traore who terrorized Utd defense with his electric pace and unpredictability. The pressure WOlves applied after the break finally paid dividends when Ruben Neves curled a pearler into the top corner. After a quick VAR check, the goal was given and Wolves were level. United had the chance to grab a late winner when Pogba superbly dribbled past three players and won a penalty for United. Pogba then missed the spot-kick and a point for both sides was probably a fair reflection of the game.
